Purple Turtle beach
Purple Turtle Beach is located in the northern part of Dominica on the Caribbean coast near one of the largest cities on the island, Portsmouth. This beach is one of the best in Dominica. Distinctive features of the turtle beach are fluffy fine light brown sand, warm blue water with shallow water and almost complete absence of waves and wind.

The ideal western beach, edged with shallow crystal clear water, is almost always empty and sparsely populated. The beach area is larger than other Dominica beaches. Its length is 3 km. To the left of the turtle beach lies Prince Rupert Bay, with dozens of anchor yachts from around the world. And to the right are the beautiful hills of Cabrits National Park. The purple turtle beach is an ideal and popular place for mooring a boat, holding cozy family picnics, fun beach parties, beautiful tan, swimming and night get-togethers under the bright starry sky of Dominica.
The Violet Turtle beach (that's how locals usually call this beach) tends to attract people on holidays, because this beach is one of the most popular places for entertainment, discos, boat races, kayaking, volleyball and various competitions. In addition to the daily water sports at Purple Turtle beach, you can rent water skis, boats, surfing equipment, sun loungers and large umbrellas on the beach.
Purple Turtle beach is conveniently located near popular historical sites in Dominica, such as Cabrits National Park, Fort Shirley, the Indian River known as the island’s deepest river.
Access to the beach is facilitated by taxi services and car rental with a wide selection of vehicles.
When is it better to go?
The average temperature in Dominica does not go beyond 25-30 degrees all year round. From June to October, powerful tropical showers are washed down the island, so iti s better to choose a different time of the year for a trip.
