Bloody Bay beach

This beach is named Bloody Bay due to the bay on which it is located. There are several versions of the appearence of this toponym. According to one legend, the bay was named after a brutal battle that took place here in the days when Jamaica was still a pirate island. According to another version, this is where whalers cut their catch, and as a result the waters of the bay were densely colored with the blood of killed whales.

Beach description

Today, Bloody Bay Beach is a modern public beach with adjacent comfortable hotels. It is located in western Jamaica - north of the resort town of Negril. Surrounded by several hotels, it is crowded and great for noisy companies and people looking for new meetings and acquaintances.

The entire area of Bloody Bay beach is divided:

  • to areas owned exclusively by hotels and therefore only their guests may visit them;
  • to public areas where anyone can rest.

Swimming here, especially with children, is very comfortable, because the water on Bloody Bay Beach is calm, the entrance to the sea is gentle and you need to walk for a long time to become deep, sandy bottom - clean and flat. Besides, the beach just amazes with its beauty. There are:

  • areas with fine sand in various shades ranging from white to brown;
  • many beautiful sea shells;
  • a coral reef just off the coast;
  • the calm, boundless sea of azure color.

It takes only 10 minutes to get to the beach from the center of Negril by taking a taxi or renting a car.

When is the best time to go?
