Matemwe is a small beach on the north-east coast of Zanzibar, located in the territory of the same name village.

Beach description
The coast is covered with fine white sand, and stones can be found at the bottom. The slope is flat, water deepens slowly. The resort is dependent on the tides. Conditions are not suitable for tourists with kids. At low tide (water lowers at 2 km), locals collect octopuses and other marine animals.
10 hotels of various levels of comfort with budget rooms and premium housing are provided for travelers, there are also modern bungalows here. Tourists reach the beach by taxi or local tent bus.
The coastline is long and wide, it offers a relaxing holiday on the beach. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, cocktails and a minimum of tourists. The breeze is warm, the beach is comfortable. You can only swim at high tide. There are a lot of green algae, crabs, starfish and hedgehogs on the coast, so it is recommended to wear special rubber shoes. The beach areas assigned to the hotels are safe for swimming, they are regularly cleaned.
When is it better to go
The climate of Tanzania is monsoon, the sun is active. The best time to relax – is from July to March. The rainy season falls on April, May and November. February – is a swing of the Tanzanian summer, the air temperature reaches +38 degrees during the day, the water warms up to +30 degrees. In Zanzibar there is a difference of 6 - 10 degrees, with the constant gusts from sea.
