Beach description
Soft sand covers the public beach for approximately 700 meters towards Cannes-la-Bocca. From here, it is easy to see Esterel and the islands of Lerins. During the summer season, the beach clubs often install pontoons that extend into the water. For those who prefer a quieter experience, this is the perfect spot to spend their time.
Why Midi Beach is so popular:
- It is situated very close to the city center.
- It boasts all the necessary infrastructure: sunbeds, mattresses, umbrellas, and a plethora of cafes and shops.
- The beach is family-friendly with a playground for children.
- Surrounding rocks create calm sea waters, and the weather is consistently perfect.
- Adults have plenty of activities to choose from. If sunbathing becomes monotonous, take a stroll along the boulevard du Midi and explore neighboring small beaches such as Plage Laugier, Plage Mistral, and Plage Madriga, which are also public. The entire area is a hub for sports enthusiasts who run and cycle, and it includes beach volleyball courts.
- Every day in summer, and on weekends in June and September, boat trips, parasailing, and wakeboarding are organized on pontoons. Equipment such as catamarans, surfboards, and canoes are available for rent. Those interested can venture out to sea for a sail with a skipper.
- In addition to sailing, yachts are available for the organization of private corporate events.
- Lifeguards are on duty.
- For 25 euros, restaurants and cafes along the beach offer delightful menus featuring seafood and drinks, attracting locals and their families.
Weekly, seawater is taken for analysis, the results of which are posted at the beach entrance. The purity of the water consistently receives no unfavorable comments.
When is the best time to go?
The French Riviera, also known as the Côte d'Azur, is a prime destination for beach enthusiasts. To make the most of your beach vacation, timing is essential. The best period to visit largely depends on your preferences for weather, crowd sizes, and local events.
- Mid-May to Mid-September: This is the peak season when the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for beach activities. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.
- Late September to October: For those who prefer a quieter experience with mild weather, this is an ideal time. The sea remains warm enough for swimming, and the summer crowds have dissipated.
- Spring: Late March to May offers pleasant weather, though the sea might still be too cool for swimming. It's a great time to enjoy the coastal scenery and outdoor cafes without the peak season's hustle.
Ultimately, the best time to visit the French Riviera for a beach vacation is late June to August if you're seeking vibrant beach life and don't mind the crowd. For a more relaxed trip with comfortable temperatures, consider late September to October.
