Tahiti beach

The beaches of Saint-Tropez have long ceased to be merely a place to relax under the sun. Now, Tahiti Beach is a renowned meeting spot for the "rich and famous," hosting elite open-air parties and informal competitions to determine whose yacht is longer and more luxurious. Contrary to popular belief, the Côte d'Azur is not exclusively reserved for the elite. Among the most expensive and prestigious beaches, Tahiti Beach is the least ostentatious, welcoming to all who wish to bask in its beauty.

Beach description

Often considered an extension of Pampelonne Beach, Tahiti Beach is, in fact, geographically contiguous when viewed on a map. These two idyllic coastal stretches are distinct, separated by a designated nudist area. Nestled in the northernmost part of the San-Tropez Peninsula's coastline, Tahiti Beach contrasts with Pampelonne's southern location. Access to this seaside paradise is via the Route de Plage de Ramatuelle; a left turn towards Saint-Tropez on the Route de Moulin leads you there.

Tahiti boasts a pristine white sandy shore lapped by the azure embrace of the clear waters. The beachfront is predominantly occupied by hotels and restaurants, each claiming their slice of paradise. While entry to the beach is complimentary, the convenience of sunbeds and umbrellas comes at an approximate cost of 30 euros. However, for those seeking a more unadulterated beach experience, public areas remain untouched by commercial entertainment, inviting visitors to relax on their own beach mats at no charge. Additionally, pets are welcome to accompany their owners, provided they remain leashed while on the beach.

The gentle, gradual entry into the water is particularly appealing for families with children. Despite the beach's extensive length, swimming spots are surprisingly limited. This is due to sections being allocated for yacht mooring and water sports activities. Venturing further south, one encounters the nudist beach. Given the beach's popularity and tendency to become crowded, it is advisable to arrive early or to bask in the tranquility of the evening. Tahiti Beach is a magnet for affluent youth seeking sun, sea, and socializing.

When is the Best Time to Visit?

The French Riviera, also known as the Côte d'Azur, is a prime destination for beach enthusiasts. To make the most of your beach vacation, timing is essential. The best period to visit largely depends on your preferences for weather, crowd sizes, and local events.

  • Mid-May to Mid-September: This is the peak season when the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for beach activities. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.
  • Late September to October: For those who prefer a quieter experience with mild weather, this is an ideal time. The sea remains warm enough for swimming, and the summer crowds have dissipated.
  • Spring: Late March to May offers pleasant weather, though the sea might still be too cool for swimming. It's a great time to enjoy the coastal scenery and outdoor cafes without the peak season's hustle.

Ultimately, the best time to visit the French Riviera for a beach vacation is late June to August if you're seeking vibrant beach life and don't mind the crowd. For a more relaxed trip with comfortable temperatures, consider late September to October.

Infrastructure

Beach vacations offer not only the essentials but also an array of luxurious, fashionable, and aristocratic amenities! Beyond sunbeds and umbrellas, you have the option to rent a tent adorned with white curtains, elegant trestles, and even picnic tables. Beach bars and restaurant waiters are at your service, ready to deliver food and drinks directly to the water's edge, should you prefer not to lounge on the summer terraces.

Tahiti Beach boasts a variety of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, nightclubs, yacht parking, water sports facilities, and comfortable hotels. One notable establishment is the Tahiti Beach Hotel, a landmark since its construction on the coast in 1946. At the hotel's restaurant, you can indulge in exquisite truffle purée (please inquire about the menu), expertly prepared sea bass, and other French gourmet delights. However, be prepared for prices that are significantly above average.
