Beach description

Binz Beach is located in Binz, in the middle of Rugen Island, the biggest island in Germany. This place is considered to be the most popular resort in Germany and its outskirts. You can get here on a high-speed train from Hamburg. The beach itself is located 10 minutes away from the Binz train station. You can rent a car at the train station to familiarise yourself with the island. Or rent a bicycle, as there are 7 wonderful bicycle tours around the island.

Binz Beach is well-kept and clean. The beach stretches for about 5 km, and its width is 100 m. It seems endless and seamlessly merges with the blue Baltic Sea on the horizon. The beach is covered in grainy white sand without stones or shells. Seaweed and small jellyfish can be seen on a rare occasion. The descent is smooth and safe. There are no high winds or waves as Binz Beach is located in a calm Prorer Wiek bay.

The beach is very popular amongst families with young children. One of Binz Beach's advantages is that there are specialized zones for different kinds of visitors: there's a zone for pet owners and a zone for nudists which is near the edge of the beach so it doesn't attract much attention.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to visit the beaches of Germany is July-August, when the Baltic Sea becomes warm enough for swimming, but the air is still cool enough for excursions.
