Oro beach

New Caledonia is famous for its great beaches, located on every island of archipelago. However, at some point it begins to seem that all of them are not very different from each other. So the quiet and beautiful Oro Beach is perfect if palms become boring.

Beach description

Oro is located on the Pin Island, and, as its name implies, the main vegetation there is thin tall pines, unlike European ones. In comparison with other places, the shore here is quite small and except for sand it's covered with grass. And despite rising along the edges of the bay layers of land covered with moss, the water is absolutely clear and has an oceanic blue hue.

Tourists can bring their children: the depth in most of the territory is knee-deep or waist-deep, and the descent is gentle and long. Take necessary things in advance: there are no sunbeds rental agencies, bars or restaurants. And also take a mask with a tube: there are a lot of fish in the bay, which is not afraid to come closer to the shore, because of tourists feeding them.

When is it better to go?

The beaches of New Caledonia are accessible all year round, but the best season to visit them is the winter season, which lasts from October to May. Warm, dry weather with a temperature of + 24-26 °C prevails on the island at this time. Rains and tropical hurricanes await holidaymakers in the low (summer) season, from November to April.
