Cabbage beach

Cabbage Beach is the main public beach of the Bahamian Paradise island and one of the most picturesque coasts of Nassau. It is located on the northern edge of the island, near the Atlantis Hotel, and is one of the most easily accessible beautiful places for a beach holiday in the Bahamas. The coast is so beautiful that it is invariably one of the ten best beaches in the world. This beach is also very popular among connoisseurs of fascinating water activities.

Beach description

The total length of the picturesque shore of Cabbage Beach is more than 3 km. The western part of the shoreline is surrounded by the emerald greenery of coconut palms creating shady places to relax. On the rest of the beach, trees are less common. The shore is covered with white sand, shimmering with impressive whiteness in the sun's rays and incredibly contrasting against the background of blue and turquoise sea waters. That's what made it one of the most picturesque beaches in the Bahamas.

Cabbage Beach is the most popular beach on Paradise Island, attracting the most diverse categories of holidaymakers.

  • Slight waves and shallow waters, as well as the presence of lifeguards on the shore near the Atlantis Hotel, allow families with children to relax safely on this area of the beach.
  • Very clean waters and plenty of opportunities for active water recreation make this beach a great holiday destination for young people, especially for extreme sports enthusiasts.
  • The availability of luxury hotels close by has also made this coast popular with newlyweds.

The western edge of the beach is usually the most crowded due to the proximity of resort hotels. Also the houses of many famous celebrities are located here. If you want to avoid the crowds of holidaymakers – it's better to go to the eastern edge of the coast.

When having a holiday here, you should consider one important nuance: in winter, the waters here are unpredictable – strong currents and high waves may occur. If a red flag is flying on the shore, it's a warning about the danger of swimming because of the strong currents near the shore.

When is the best time to go?

Holidays in the Bahamas are good at any time of the year, but the busy season is in the period from mid-November to May. The Bahamas are disposed quite low in relation to sea level, so the wind blows in the winter months, but it is gentle and soberly pleasant. The air temperature is between 27-29 degrees from the end of autumn to the beginning of summer. Traveling with children, it is better to come in the autumn months, while the spring is more appropriate to go for new emotions, and peacefully enjoy the sunshine – in winter.
