Bilgah beach
Bilgia is one of the most popular and most visited beaches on the Absheron Peninsula. It is located in the settlement of the same name on the coast of the Caspian sea, about 30 km north of Baku. The proximity to the capital of the country and the relatively simple way from it, combined with the health-improving properties of the resort (in translation, the name of the settlement and the beach means “a marshy place”, which is associated with the presence of therapeutic mud) gave it the glory of the place most attractive for family vacations.

The long (almost kilometer) and wide coastline is covered with yellow-gray sand and relatively clean, compared to other beaches in Azerbaijan. In the season, there is very crowded, which is caused by
- the most convenient location of the beach - very close to the capital;
- rather clear waters of the Caspian Sea and sand-shell coast;
- the presence of cleaning filters in the sea on this beach, so it is possible not to worry about health when swimming;
- significant shallow water, prevailing over most of the beach area, which allows families to relax here even with small children; the sea is so shallow, that you need to walk a few meters from the coast to reach a depth of at least waist-deep
A distinctive feature of Bilgia beach is the division of its long sandy line into several areas, each of which is distinguished by its conditions and conveniences. The following popular rest destinations on the coast can be distinguished:
- the area near the cardiological sanatorium is the most shallow and ideal for vacation with children, the coast is covered with very soft fine sand, but it is best to come here in the morning;
- a free beach area - “the sea of summer residents” - a recreation area for experienced swimmers and extreme sports enthusiasts, but not for children, since the entry into the water here is very sharp and the depth is significant; with southerly winds there are a lot of jellyfish near the coast, and with northerly winds - big waves are formed, which makes it possible even to ride on surfboards;

When is the best time to go?
The most favorable time for a trip to Azerbaijan is May-June, when the temperature on the beaches has a comfortable rest. If you can withstand high temperatures when the thermometer does not drop below 30 degrees, then July and August are also suitable for a trip.

Infrastructure
Bilgia Beach has a well-developed infrastructure for tourists. Entrance to it from the territory of the cardiological sanatorium is free, but you will have to pay for all additional services. Straw parasols and sun loungers are provided for a fee. In season, the beach is controlled by lifeguards, and vacationers are not allowed to swim for restrictive buoys.
There are several cafes on the beach where you can hide from the hot sun and have a tasty snack, but it’s hard to find empty spots during the season. There is also a restaurant afloat and equipped playgrounds for kids on the beach.
If we consider options for a possibility to rent housing in close proximity to the beach, then we can make a choice in favor of Bilgah Estates Villas, it is a complex of luxury villas located on the northern edge of the beach. No less attractive is another elite place of residence - a modern hotel complex of 5 stars -Bilgah Beach Hotel. Its territory also includes a private 300-meter stretch of beach with a water park and night discos. The rooms in these hotels are not cheap, but correspond to their price category. Cheaper options should be found inside the village.

- From Baku, the easiest way to get to Bilgia beach is by taxi. You can also use public transport, reaching the Cardiology Center stop in the city and then walking about 15 minutes to the beach.
- In September and October you can enjoy the peace and solitude on this beach, on the coast of which and in the sea near he simply can’t find free space in the summer. It is warm and comfortable in autumn.
- A beach holiday in Bilgia can be combined with interesting cultural activities. Among the excursion offers in this area it is worth highlighting a visit to the temple complex of fire worshipers in the settlement of Surahani, a trip to the resort with the beach Shikhovo, as well as excursions to interesting places of the Old City in Baku.
