Shikhova beach
Shikhova is not as popular as Bilgeh, but no less attractive because of the proximity to Baku (only 13 km south of the capital), the beach of Azerbaijan, which is most often visited by tourists on the way to Gobustan. It is due to the good location, many people are ready to "forgive" this sea coastline a lack of well-developed infrastructure and enjoy relative privacy because of the smaller number of tourists here.

Shikhova beach has not pure sea waters. Due to the proximity of oil derrick (it is even possible to see them from the coastline) in windy weather, fuel film is often brought to the coast, so bathing here is often officially prohibited. But, despite this, in season there are enough vacationers on this beach.
- Many people are attracted here by the cleanest paid areas of the coastline, as well as a water park, located on the coastline.
- It is these two factors, together with the proximity to the capital, that made the coastline of Shikhov a popular place for family recreation.
- A significant area of shallow water, sandy (unlike other beaches), and not a rocky sea bottom, small waves even by strong winds, as well as numerous children's attractions in the water park make this coastline ideal for families with children.
But it is worth considering, that with southerly winds a lot of algae are washed ashore. Given this and the general glory of the far from the cleanest spaces of this beach, swimming is still better in the pools of the water park with purified sea water than in the sea itself. But on the coastline it is possible to enjoy a romantic rest in one of the fish restaurants.
When is the best time to go?
The most favorable time for a trip to Azerbaijan is May-June, when the temperature on the beaches has a comfortable rest. If you can withstand high temperatures when the thermometer does not drop below 30 degrees, then July and August are also suitable for a trip.

The service here is not as developed as on other beaches near Baku, but there is a significant plus in this drawback - more budget-friendly prices.
- Seaside cafes are located right on the beach. You can reserve a table by the sea and enjoy a cup of tea or a refreshing drink. There are also bars and restaurants close to the beach.
- There are showers on the beach, and a rescue tower operates in season. For an additional fee, umbrellas and sun loungers are provided.
- It is possible to rent water scooters - for fun relaxation in the open sea. You can leave your car in free parking near the beach.
The main “highlight” and the most comfortable relaxation area on this beach is the water park of Shikhov. Entrance to this territory is paid, but the coast here is the cleanest.
- There are 3 variants of slides for adults and 2 for children, as well as children's trampolines.
- Vacationers are provided with sun loungers and parasols, as well as have access to the swimming pools - both with sea and fresh water. There is also a separate swimming pool for the safe swimming of babies. All services are included in the price of entrance ticket.
