Gouéla beach

Gouéla is located on the west coast of the Mayotte Island. It has a quiet and tranquil atmosphere, soft black sand and a wide shore that reaches 50 meters. The main attraction of this place are underwater reefs. Moray eels, anemonefish, blue surgeons, and dozens of other beautiful fish inhabit there. At the bottom there are strangle algae, sea turtles, and interesting minerals. Hundreds of divers come to Gouéla to see these wonders with their own eyes.

Beach description

The beach has a smooth depth setting and is long (over 2 km). Sometimes there are strong waves and storm winds, but 95% of the time, Gouéla remains an ideal place for a family vacation. There is toilet and small bar on its territory. All other benefits of civilization should be sought in the village of Bouéni, located 200 meters from the sea shore. There are bars, restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, and souvenir shops. A little further from the beach is a national park with dense forests and tourist paths.

The main contingent of Gouéla is diving fans, masked divers, families with children. French, Americans, and Asian are often found among tourists. You can get here by municipal bus or minibus.

When is the best time to go?

Mayotte is located in the southern hemisphere, since the climatic winter coincides there with the calendar summer,  so the best time to visit the island is from September to November and from April to May, when a comfortable temperature is set.
