Beach description
Mitikas (its second name is Monoliti) is so vast that it is rather a hard task to give its strict characteristics. The beach is mostly covered with sand, and pebbles occur sometimes as well. There are no winds here. The water entry is smooth, the depth increases gradually, so families with children will feel rather comfortable here. Sometimes large stones occur, and tourists pick them for convenient relaxation on a towel.
In the near vicinity of Mitikas, there are numerous hotels and restaurants of all price ranges. The beach itself has several taverns serving fresh cocktails; young people living in campings enjoyed it. History admirers will be satisfied: 1.5 kilometers away, ruins of the ancient city of Nikolopis are situated.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
