The best beaches in Kythnos

Kolona is the most picturesque beach of Kythnos, which is considered the best vacation spot on the island for real romantics. It is located in the bay of the same name on the northwest coast of the island, about 3 km from the village of Chora and 9 km north of the port of Merihas. An unusual and incredibly beautiful view gives it a narrow sandy strip that combines Kythnos with the rocky island of Agios Lucas and at the same time divides the bay into 2 parts, which is why the beach is surrounded by sea waters on both sides.

Loutra is a long beach in the calm bay of Bani (sometimes referred to as the coast) near the traditional fishing village of the same name on the northeastern outskirts of Kythnos and only 5 km from Chora. He received his name from nearby springs, which are so famous for this Greek island. It was these natural baths that made the Loutra coast especially popular among holidaymakers.

Episkopi is a small but wide, very picturesque and rather crowded (especially in summer) sandy beach of Kythnos, especially popular among young people and families with kids. It is located on the northwestern edge of the island, in a closed bay opposite the village of the same name, 2 km from the port of Merihas and about 5 km from Chora.

Agios Dimitrios is not only a beach, but also a popular resort in the west of the island. The wide and rather long sandy coastal zone is combined with clear water and rocky hills on both sides of the beach. At the same time, descent into the water is quite convenient: the shore is flat, the bottom is sandy, and the water does not become sharply deep, so it is very comfortable with children here. However, the coast offers ample opportunities for swimming adults, as well as for observing the underwater world when diving.

Gaidouromantra Beach is located on the south coast of the island of Kithnos. This is a pretty secluded place, since there is almost never a large crowd of people, even despite the sandy beach and crystal clear waters.

Kanala Beach has a fairly large area with sand and safe for children shallow water. There are small pebble sections of the coastal zone, and the bottom is almost completely covered with pebbles, but because of the shallow depth and clear water in the coastal area, it is difficult to hurt such stones.

Agia Irini is located in a small bay in the wide Loutra Bay in the northeast of the island, so the beach is reliably protected from winds and waves. The name of the resort comes from the local church dedicated to St. Irina.
