Beaches in Kythira

Kapsali is a picturesque beach on the southernmost outskirts of Kitira, located in the harbor of the village of the same name not far (about 2 km) from the island's capital. Its coast has a developed infrastructure and very colorful landscapes. In season, this is one of the most visited beaches of Kitira, which is popular among couples with children, and among lovers of active water activities, because relaxation here is possible to the maximum varied, interesting and safest.

Agia Pelagia is a picturesque beach of Kithira of medium length, consisting of three bays. Its coast stretches along the village of the same name, which is located about 26 km northeast of the capital and has long been known as the main port on the island. With the authentic beauty of the ancient village of Agia Pelagia, it has a calm atmosphere and is famous as a great place for a family beach and sports vacation.

Kaladi is the most beautiful and most popular wild beach in Kythira. It is located on the eastern edge of the island, next to Paleopolis and about 15 km from its modern center. The difficult path to this coast is perfectly compensated by the incredibly picturesque landscapes of the coast and the unique atmosphere of a feeling of isolation from civilization that reigns in this paradise of Kitira.

Chalkos is a small but very picturesque beach framed by coastal cliffs, located on the southern outskirts of Kythira, a few kilometers from the village of Kalamos and about 8 km southeast of the island's capital. People come here for the atmosphere of relative solitude from the world with a certain degree of comfort in the bosom of unique landscapes. It is because of this combination of recreational benefits that many consider Chalkos one of the best beaches on the island, despite its small length.

Fyri Ammos is the most unusual beach of Kitira, which has an impressive landscape due to the picturesque faceting of the rocks and the incredible red shade of sand on the shore. It is located on the north-eastern outskirts of the island, about 2 km from the village of Agia Pelagia and almost immediately behind the village of Kalamos. Fantastic views and easy access to the coast gave it the glory of one of the most popular beaches of the island, even in the absence of any signs of infrastructure.

Melidoni is a typical beach on the island of Kythira. Judge for yourself: it is located in a small bay surrounded by rocky cliffs, is notable for its small size and low population, and is famous for its warm, transparent and spotlessly clean water. However, this place has a number of unique features.

Diakofti is a quiet beach located in the eastern part of the island of Kythira. It is known for soft cream-colored sand, a large number of trees, rocky cliffs and huge boulders. Nearby there is a small village with grocery stores, cozy cafes, mini-hotels and colorful buildings in the traditional Greek style.

Fourney is a tiny beach located in a rocky bay. It is next to mountain peaks, dense forest and underwater caves. A dirt road leads to it, starting in the vicinity of the village of Caravas. The local infrastructure consists of a small restaurant, toilet, sun loungers, sun umbrellas and several hammocks located at the foot of the rocks.

Kalami is a pebble beach located in the central west part of Kythira. Near it are beautiful cliffs, a village with traditional Greek architecture, an ancient monastery. These and other attractions are found on the way to the sea.

Platia Ammos is a sand and pebble beach with traditional Greek villas and lots of trees. There are also high cliffs, exotic shrubs, shady groves. Near the shore there is a picturesque pier, where fishing boats, sightseeing ships and private liners park. There you can rent a boat for a walk or arrange sea fishing.

Lagada is a pebble beach located at the foot of the Kitira rocky ridge. It is equipped with comfortable sun loungers, sun umbrellas, toilets, showers and changing rooms. There is also a small restaurant where Greek and Continental cuisine is prepared. When visiting this place, be sure to try the fish - its taste cannot be confused with anything.

Sparagario is a wild beach opposite the village of Kapsali. On its territory there are no roads, pathos bars and comfortable sunbeds. But there are majestic cliffs, outlandish shrubs, snow-white pebbles, clean and warm sea. The local coast is sparsely populated (by greek standards). From 2-3 to several dozens of people gather here during the day. In the morning and at night the beach remains deserted.

Limni (Paleopolis) is the largest beach of the island of Kythira, covered with a mixture of red pebbles and white sand. Its infrastructure is limited to a dirt road and improvised parking. But not everything is so bad - a few kilometers from the shore there is a restaurant and fifty hotels.
