Kapsali beach
Kapsali is a picturesque beach on the southernmost outskirts of Kitira, located in the harbor of the village of the same name not far (about 2 km) from the island's capital. Its coast has a developed infrastructure and very colorful landscapes. In season, this is one of the most visited beaches of Kitira, which is popular among couples with children, and among lovers of active water activities, because relaxation here is possible to the maximum varied, interesting and safest.

Beach description
The rather long and wide coast of Kapsali consists of two bays, which generally resemble an omega in shape. Due to this feature of the landscape that the beach is called "Germini". According to local legends, this is where Aphrodite was born. Looking at the surrounding scenery and dark turquoise waters it is easy to believe in this myth. Conditions for resting here are perfect:
- the shore is covered with light sand mixed with pebbles, and the sea bottom is sandy;
- the picturesque and protected beach is given a rocky frame that prevents strong winds and the formation of high waves (they do not exist here at all);
- the idyllic landscapes of the coast is completed by white houses at the foot of the cliffs and the Venetian castle of Kato Chora overlooking the beach;
- cleanliness of the coast and waters combined with the picturesque scenery and the excellent level of comfort gave the beach a legal Blue Flag mark
Safe bathing conditions have made Kapsali a popular beach for families with children. But for those who want peace and privacy, it's better to choose other beaches on the island - it is too crowded and noisy during the season.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
Kapsali is one of the best beaches of Kythira in terms of infrastructure development. In both of its bays there are marinas for tourist boats, where you can book excursions along the sea. Getting on land is also easy. An asphalt path leads almost to the coast, near which there is organized parking for cars.
Vacationers on Kapsali have maximum conditions for a comfortable pastime:
- you can use sun loungers and umbrellas during the season;
- there is a rental of equipment for active water leisure;
- there are a lot of taverns, cafes, restaurants on the shore, so there is always a cozy place where you can have a tasty meal while sitting close to the sea;
- near the beach there are night clubs for fans of rocking parties and discos

In the vicinity of Kapsali, you can visit many interesting places, ranging from the coastal old lighthouse on the beach to the fortress on the rocks above it. Vacationers are also recommended to visit:
- a pine forest with an old chapel, which begins immediately behind the village;
- the cave of Agia Sofia with 13th century frescoes and the Byzantine church;
- the antique mills near Piso Yalo.
You should definitely visit the fortress of Kato Hora and swim in the Hitra cave, to which boat trips from Kapsali Beach are organized.
- The rocky island of Avgo (which translates as "Egg") near the beach is a symbolic place of Kapsali. It is here, according to legend, that Aphrodite was born. Surrounded by a halo of legends, the sea cliff is the best place for romantic photo shoots on this beach.
- You can rent a canoe and visit the neighboring beaches – Agios Pavlos, Kapsalaki, Sparagario. This is the best opportunity for those who want to escape from the crowds of vacationers and enjoy the privacy.
