Apella (Apella) has repeatedly been recognized as the best beach in Greece and Europe. It was admired of the fantastic color of the water, the combination of mountains and the sea, mild climate and well-developed infrastructure. Apella is the most famous, popular and beautiful beach on the island of Karpathos. In 2003 it was recognized as the best beach in Europe, and in subsequent years it was rapidly ranked among the top 10 places in Greece. It is loved for the following features:
- warm and crystal clear water of turquoise color;
- location in a scenic bay surrounded by giant cliffs, coniferous trees, green peaks and stone slabs;
- large size - more than 500 m in length and up to 40 m in width;
- stunning panoramic view of the Hellas mountains, picturesque villas, dense forests and deserted hills.
Apella is characterized by s smooth depth difference, weak waves and soft sand with small fragments of gravel. It's safe and clean here. The beach is a good place for children, beginners in swimming, fans of quiet and relaxing vacation. Its guests are offered the best cocktails and Mediterranean cuisine, comfortable sunbeds, sea tours and yacht trips along the coast.
The main contingent of Apella is an adult and wealthy public who behave in a respectful manner. This provides a good crime scene and guarantees no unpleasant situations. The best places on the shore are at 9-10 a.m. in the morning. If you want to lie on a sunbed a few meters from the sea - come early.
The beach is famous for its clean air, calm atmosphere, beautiful aromas that are in the air. Local facilities did not disappoint either - they cook dishes made of natural Greek products. Especially good fish cuisine.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

The 3-star hotel is located 10 km south of the beach Kyra Panagia ApartHotel built in the traditional greek style. On its territory there is a large pool, sun terraces with armchairs and tables, comfortable sun loungers and sun umbrellas.
Hotel guests are also offered free Wi-Fi and parking, a spacious bar serving tropical cocktails, a barbecue area, family vacations, sunbathing. The hotel has non-smoking rooms. Living rooms are equipped with air conditioning, refrigerators and kitchenettes.
On the beach itself there are comfortable sun loungers, sun umbrellas, toilets, changing cabins and a large number of garbage bins. At the top there is an inexpensive restaurant with a wide variety of cocktails and traditional dishes.
The nearest major population center (the town of Volada) is located 10 km south of the beach. It is famous for its narrow streets, ancient architecture, colorful inhabitants. There are grocery stores, souvenir shops, authentic cafes for frequenters

You can reach the beach by taxi, excursion boat from Pigadi or by car through the village of Aperi. A narrow and steep road leads to it. It will require an SUV or impeccable driving skills to overcome it.
