Villajoyosa is a famous tourist city with sandy beaches that stretch for 3 km. Thousands of tourists come to the resort due to the mild climate, warm sea water and clean beaches. There are quite interesting sights here - in Villajoyosa fishing is developed, many monuments from the time of the reign of the Romans, an ancient cathedral in the Gothic style, an olive tree grows, which is more than 2.5 thousand years old, there are several chocolate factories where they create the most delicious Spanish sweets.

Villajoyosa is a quiet city on the Mediterranean coast with many cozy sandy and rocky beaches. The most popular and the most visited:

  • Playa Centro is a crowded central sandy beach with well-developed infrastructure. The width is 30 m, the length is 1380 m. Peak season is from July to September. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, toilets. On the territory there are restaurants with Mediterranean, Spanish, European cuisine. Tables, outdoor terraces.
  • Playa Paraíso is a popular beach located 1000 meters from the city center. The width is 25 km, the length is 1.1 km. You can get there by bus or car. On the coast golden sand lies, in some areas there is gravel. The infrastructure is well developed - there are playgrounds for football, volleyball, zones for kids, water slides are installed. You can rent a sunbed, a deck chair - a rental point is on the beach. There is a clean beach, clear water, which is annually confirmed by the Blue Flag award, which indicates environmental friendliness and safety.
  • La Caleta is a comfortable beach of sand and pebbles located behind the hills. The width is 30 m, the length is 160 m. It is not crowded due to inaccessibility. On the beach there is a volleyball court, soccer field, children's area. There is a rental of boats, umbrellas, deck chairs. Annually it receives the Blue Flag Award.
  • Playa Bon Nou is a compact beach with a coating of sand and pebbles, is popular among locals and tourists. The width is 50 m, the length is 200 m. Most vacationers here in July-August. The infrastructure is provided with the rental of sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, a toilet, a dressing room, parking.
  • Playa del Torres is a pebble beach located next to the square of the same name. The width is 10 m, the length is 560 m. It is popular with lovers of water sports: travellers like water skiing, surfing, windsurfing, practicing kayaking and sailing. There is parking for cars.
  • Xarco is a rocky poor-developed beach 5 m wide, 2 km long. It is deserted, entry into the water is difficult. It is popular among divers and spear fishing enthusiasts.

Climate is mild, Mediterranean. In summer, the temperature on the beach is +26 degrees. Get to the beach by car, tram, bus, train and taxi.

The beach season on the coast of Spain falls on the period from May to October. The water and air temperature reaches the most comfortable levels, thereby guaranteeing tourists a perfect vacation.

Infrastructure

There is no hotels in the city, tourists seek housing upon arrival in colorful houses, spread out on the coast. There is a campsite - El Paraiso. Near the resorts closest to the center there are many cafes, clubs, bars, restaurants equipped with terraces with delicious European, sea, Mediterranean and Spanish cuisines. Travelers and locals eat there. There is an promenade, rental points for swimming equipment. Rent kayaks, jet skis, boats.

Sights

The city of Villajoyosa is a godsend for a tourist who loves outdoor activities. There is where to go and what to do. There are three chocolate factories in the city where the most delicious Spanish chocolate is produced: Valor, Clavileno and Perez. The best cocoa beans are grown for production in the area.

At the end of July, the festival "Moors and Christians" takes place in the city - the townspeople honor St. Martha, the patroness of these places. In the middle of August, Chocolatissima, a festival with a free tasting of chocolate sweets, is regularly held in the old quarter. The products are presented by chocolate companies and family enterprises.

The city’s architectural sights include the authentic center of Villajoyosa Arsenal. There is the Church of the Assumption, the Chapel of Santa Maria, narrow picturesque streets, on Church Square the oldest store - Dalt's shop - is located.

Throughout the summer, in the city the local Nautico Yacht Club operates. Near the beach of Harko is a huge observation tower with an extraordinary breathtaking view of the endless sea. On the coast of Torres beach there is the burial tower of Hercules. Among the unusual attractions - a 2.5-thousand-year-old tree grows in the city - La Olivera Grossa. Other popular places:
