Barlovento beach

Barlovento is another deserted beach (along with Cofete ), located on the Jandia peninsula, only in its western part. Due to the constant gusts of wind, strong waves and undercurrents, it is not recommended for swimming, but it is definitely worth a visit for the sake of contemplation by the majestic mountains holding up the clouds.

Beach description

Barlovento is recognized as one of the most inaccessible, but at the same time the famous beaches of Fuerteventura. You need to get to it on a dirt road, which is pretty good, so you can ride a regular car, not an SUV. Signs follow the road to Barlovento.

Somewhere in the middle of the beach is the small village of Cofete, whose main attraction is Villa Winter. The building is a group of buildings resembling a fortress among the rocks. The construction began in 1940 by the German industrialist Gustav Winter, who collaborated with the Nazis. According to the official version, the villa was necessary for farming, but what really happened there is not known for certain.

When is it better to go

The beaches of Fuerteventura are suitable for relaxing all year round, but the ocean temperature does not rise above + 21 °C even in the warmest months. Winds constantly blow on the island, which makes the climate milder and more comfortable than in Africa, which is 100 km away.
