Sotavento beach
Sotavento is considered to be one of the longest coasts of Fuerteventura. The total length of the beach is 30 kilometers. It has been Sotavento for many years in a row that has been the center for a variety of sports competitions, and the beach has gained special popularity among surfers. In addition, Sotavento was awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and high environmental performance.

Beach description
The beach and the bottom are sandy, there are no trees on the coast. The width of the beach is determined by low tides - after them lagoons form, in which the temperature of the water due to the warming of the sun is equal to the air temperature.
From the strong waves of Sotavento protect long sandbanks, so the beach is quite lively and quite popular among tourists. But thanks to the great length, there is still the opportunity to retire from prying eyes on the beach, but for this purpose you will need either an SUV or great patience and love to walk. Getting to Sotavento from Fuerteventura Airport is very easy: only 60 km towards the south by taxi or bus. And by the way, it is very easy to get to the island of Fuerteventura from other islands of Canaria, because there is a ferry service between them.
When is it better to go
The beaches of Fuerteventura are suitable for relaxing all year round, but the ocean temperature does not rise above + 21 °C even in the warmest months. Winds constantly blow on the island, which makes the climate milder and more comfortable than in Africa, which is 100 km away.

There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity of the beach, to the nearest 2.5 km to the north. Of the settlements closest to all is Costa Calma. On the same beach there are kitesurfing and windsurfing schools that offer both rental and training. In addition, they have a full range of services: bars, shops, free Wi-Fi, as well as the work of photographers, physiotherapists and massage therapists.
