The best beaches in Sweden

Ribersborg is a popular place for the rest in Malmo at any time of the year in Sweden. The beach and a coastal area of the largest city surprises tourists not only with its history but also with daily entertainment activities along the coast of Oresund. The beach is so popular so the locals and tourists can recognize it by the name "Ribbon", as the people of Sweden call it, or "The Scandinavian Copacobana"; this name is firmly entrenched in tourists publications.

Sandhammaren Beach is rightfully fighting for the title of the best place for beach holiday on Sweden. Surprisingly warm sands and cool waters of Baltic are located in the South-East of the country, in Osterlen. To be more precisely, the beach occupied an area of several kilometers from the village of Lederups Strand bad in the Eastern part of the region to the famous province of Scone (South-Eastern part).

Despite the name that is hard to pronounce for tourists, this beach is considered one of the best in Sweden and regularly falls into the lists of the most popular places for summer holidays by the water. It is located directly in the capital of the country – Stockholm – in the Kungsholmen area, and you can easily reach it by taxi or get off at the Friedhemsplan metro station.

Böda Beach is one of Sweden’s best and most popular beaches, which undoubtedly deserves such attention from both the Swedes and visitors. It is located on the east coast of the island of Oland and extends for as many as 20 kilometers. From the continental part of the country you can get here by car on the highway 137: however, when leaving from Stockholm, you will have to spend at least 5 hours on this. There are also bus and train routes, but this journey will take even longer.

Sudersand is located on the tiny island of Faro, adjacent to the other, the largest island of Sweden – Gotland. This beach is considered one of the best in the country: and due to its characteristics, and thanks to the magnificent landscapes and, undoubtedly, due to its proximity to historical places. At first glance, getting there even by car is not easy, because Faro is not connected to the main island with anything but a ferry: however, the entire transportation process is so streamlined and simple that it will not cause the slightest discomfort.

Varamon beach is different from most other popular beaches in Sweden for the reason that, unlike them, it is not on the shores of the Baltic or North Sea, but on the banks of the picturesque Lake Vettern. It is the second largest in the whole country and is located in the central part of southern Sweden: in 2.5 hours you can get here from Stockholm by car along the modern E4 highway.

Tilesand Beach is one of those places that is sincerely loved and appreciated by both visitors and locals. Only during the summer season the number of visitors exceeds forty thousand people, and its popularity is undoubtedly justified. It is 15 minutes from Halmstad: a major Swedish city, which also has an airport. You can easily get to the beach from there either by car, or by bus or bike.

The island of Gotland, the largest of the Swedish islands, is known both for its rich history and for its beaches. One of the most charming of them is Lugarn Beach: as well as one of the most visited and longest. This place has served as a resort for Swedes since the 19th century, and famous artists often came here.

Norrfällsviken Beach is located on the island of Höga Kusten. It is known as a unique and exciting place not only in Sweden, but throughout Europe. The quiet water surface, picturesque panoramas that open from the beach and local nature attract a lot of tourists. The beach is not as crowded as other recreation areas in Sweden, and you can hardly get a Caribbean tan on Norrfällsviken (given the local climate), but many decent photos and unforgettable emotions are definitely available for every tourist. Indeed, nature and sky make you forget about the cold and snow inherent in Swedish lands.

Langholmsbadet Beach is a picturesque coastal area near Stockholm, which can be reached by taxi or city bus, the landmark is Hornstull metro station. The territory of the city beach is designed for swimming and sunbathing on a weekend or for relaxing with an overnight stay in local hotels and camping. The location of the beach (every resident of the city knows about it and will easily tell you the way), amazing cliffs and sand cover guarantee high attendance on any day, because local vacationers and tourists from all countries are ready to catch every sunbeam.   The infrastructure here is quite developed: shops, restaurants, cafes are available, as well as souvenir shops and picnic or barbecue areas.
