Elbow beach

Pristine white sands, swaying palm trees, and azure waters are the quintessential hallmarks of Elbow Beach, one of Bermuda's most breathtaking destinations. Nestled in Paget Parish, the beach's unique curvature mirrors that of an elbow, giving rise to its evocative name. This idyllic spot beckons travelers seeking a serene escape into a tropical paradise.

Beach description

Elbow Beach is a mere minutes' drive from Hamilton, making it an easily accessible slice of paradise. However, its proximity to three hotels along the shoreline means it can become quite crowded with tourists. Despite this, Elbow Beach offers a plethora of amenities to enhance your visit, including:

  • Restaurants,
  • Bars,
  • Bathrooms,
  • Locker rooms,
  • Transfer services back to the hotel.

Additionally, Elbow Beach provides snorkeling equipment, sun loungers, and beach umbrellas for rent. As the sun sets, guests are invited to partake in lively volleyball games, open for everyone to join and enjoy.

The coral reefs, nestled near the shoreline, serve as natural barriers to the ocean breeze, creating serene and tranquil waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. These tours offer a chance to delve into the rich marine life that Bermuda's ocean has to offer.

Not far from the shore, at almost 100 meters, lies the remains of the Pollock Shields shipwreck. This warship met its fate upon the local reefs and descended to the ocean floor on August 22, 1915. Adventurous visitors can journey to the wreck site by kayak or boat, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Bermuda for a beach vacation is typically between the months of May and October. This period aligns with Bermuda's peak season, offering the most ideal conditions for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. Here are a few reasons why:

  • Warm Temperatures: During these months, the average temperature ranges from 75°F to 85°F (24°C to 29°C), perfect for beach activities.
  • Water Clarity: The Atlantic Ocean is at its clearest, providing excellent visibility for snorkeling and diving.
  • Less Rainfall: Although Bermuda has a sub-tropical climate with a chance of rain year-round, the summer and early fall months tend to be drier.
  • Festivals and Events: This period also coincides with numerous local festivals and events, adding to the vacation experience.

However, it's worth noting that this is also the most popular time to visit, so expect higher prices and more crowded beaches. For those looking to avoid the crowds, the shoulder season—April and November—might be a better option, though the water may be slightly cooler.
