Whale Bay beach

Well Bay is located in the western part of Southampton, not far from Middle Road. From March to April, flocks of migrating humpback whales can be seen from here. Whale Bay got its name from its proximity to the former whaling area. It is currently a popular destination for whale watching enthusiasts.

Beach description

Whale Bay is a compact beach with pink sands located by the cliff. Quiet and shallow waters make it perfect for family recreation, and coral reefs with rich sea flora and fauna promise great snorkeling. Locals come to this beach for fishing. Moreover, Whale Bay is a popular place for family picnics and campings. Behind the sandspit, you'll find a large lawn area with tables and bathrooms.

The beach is available every day from morning to evening, and no entry fee is requested. You can get to it by buses No. 7 and 8 going between the dock yard and Hamilton. Way from dock yard will take 25 minutes, and from hamilton, 35 minutes.
