Somerset Long Bay beach

Secluded Somerset Long Bay is a favorite of the locals. As its name suggests, it is a quite long sandy beach. It is located in western Bermuda, in Sandys County, near the village of Somerset.

Beach description

Due to its calm and clear waters, Somerset Long Bay is a perfect place both for swimming and scuba-diving. When entering the sea, the bottom remains shallow for 90 meters, which makes this place popular among families with children. Although, the farther you go from the beach, the more stones you see.

A reservation situated behind the beach attracts tourists with calm atmosphere, shadowy alleys, paths, and a pond with fresh water. Among birds attracted to the pond, there are herons, kingfishers, millerbords, and American coots. Fields inside the park are the habitat of bee eaters, finches and cobweb birds. The reservation guests can enjoy free picnic sites, recreation rooms, a children's playground and a car parking lot. There are a few restaurants with open terraces nearby, from where one can observe the bright sunset views.

Tourists use buses No. 7 and 8, that go between the dock yard and Hamilton, to get to Somerset Long Bay beach. The way from a dock yard to a bus station closest to the beach will take around fifteen minutes, and 10 minutes of relaxed walk will remain.
