Beach description
The white sand of Kirra Beach and the purity of the surrounding ocean surface have been praised by thousands of tourists. You can get here from Gold Coast Airport by catching a taxi or taking a bus.
The best place to swim here is in the protected area near the Tugun Surf Club. In terms of security, Kirra Beach is the best protected. The waves are the lowest on the coast, but swimmers should be careful because of strong currents and shallow depth. Wind-strength can reach up to 26 km/h at night, but by about 9 a.m. the wind calms to 15 km/h. Another popular activity on the beach is diving, which will be of interest to those who want to explore the reef of Kirra.
When is it better to go
The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.
