Surfers Paradise is Queensland's iconic and most popular surf resort, visited daily by 20,000 tourists. For almost a hundred years, it remains a paradise for surfers and a platform for competitions in life-saving - a new sport that provides safety on the water.

Beach description

At visitors' disposal there are 16 km of beautiful white sandy beach and heaven conditions for surfing. The waves on Surfers Paradise reach an unthinkable length (maximum – 1970 m) and an impressive height. That's why in the 20s of the last century, along with surfing, lifesaving was born here.

The beach is considered to be moderately dangerous, which proved by 8 surf clubs and 16 lifeguard towers. Swimming is recommended only in patrolled areas, staying closer to shore during surfs.

When is it better to go

The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.

The beach has numerous access roads, a wide promenade and the most developed infrastructure on the entire Golden Coast. Surfers Paradise Beach offers the following services for beach lovers:

  • water closets;
  • changing rooms;
  • showers,
  • parking lots;
  • beach areas and wheelchair toilets;
  • Romantic Travel Club;
  • barbecue area;
  • lifeguard club.

The city of Gold Coast, on the territory of which is located a surf resort, provides guests with numerous recreation areas and entertainment arenas.

Within walking distance from Surfers Paradise Beach, there are many hotels for every taste and budget. Each of the hotel complexes, regardless of price category, is famous for its uncompromisingly high quality of service.

Where to eat                                                                              

Restaurants, bistros, pubs and bars offer their services to guests right on the beach. Here you can order:

  • seafood treats and at least 6 types of fresh fish;
  • grilled steaks and ribs of pork, lamb, chicken;
  • vegetarian dishes (salads, vegetable soups, fried bananas).

Australian cuisine predominates, complemented by Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. But you can also find a Cuban restaurant with delicacies of Spain and the Caribbean. For drinks is more prefered aromatic coffee and rum cocktails. In the wine list, the first positions are occupied by sangria and mojito.

Guests of the resort have the opportunity to hire a personal chef. In most cases, this service is used to organize exclusive parties and corporate banquets.

What to do

In addition to surfing, tourists can try other kinds of water sports:

  • windsurfing;
  • water-skis;
  • paragliding.

Throughout the day, the promenade is crowded with cyclists and skateboarders. Tourists who dream of safe flights will be attracted by iFLY, a new action-sports game offering to take a parachute jump indoors accompanied by an instructor. Of great interest are the regularly held V8 Supercars (racing drivers), as well as the Monster Truck Big Give 2 show with the participation of big feet.

Surfers Paradise Beachfront supermarkets provide exciting and enjoyable shopping experience on the beach, they are open every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 3:00 to 20:00 and announce sales three times a week. The nightlife of the beach resort is rich in discos, fire performances, comedian performances, and concerts.
