Durras beach

The pristine Darras Beach, located in the extreme south of New South Wales County, 280 km from Sydney, is considered a place of attraction for surfers.

Beach description

Durras is a place with rhythmic tides favoring teh successful boarding. Even a novice can ride small waves in the northern part of the beach but even here, one should take care of strong currents. In summer, when sea becomes more quiet, the beachgoers have new possibilities: sunbathing on white sand, fishing, boat tours, exploring rocky capes and cozy bays.

Wild nature lovers will be, for sure, interested in sights of the national park of Murramarang. There is the eucalypt forest, nice lake, and nests of exotic birds. Right on the beach, you can see kangaroos serenely relaxing in grass.

In South Darras village, there is a small general store, and in Batemans Bay, you'll find cafes, restaurants, trade malls and stores trading surfing equipment.

When is it better to go

The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.
