Algarrobo beach
Algarrobo Beach, located in the bay in San-Antonio province of Valparaiso, is especially popular among tourists due to its calmer and warmer ocean when compared to other locations on the coast.

Beach description
Part of the beach is covered in a thick layer of white sand, swimming and sunbathing enthusiasts come here. There's a smooth descent into water and a sandy sea bottom here, with some sharp stones however. A rocky area with uneven sea bottom covered in stones is located nearby. The beach is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers. There are catamaran and boat rentals here.
Algarrobo is quite crowded. Both locals and surfing enthusiasts often come here. You can watch the windsurfing competitions, along with other sport events, that are held here frequently.
The most amazing sight of Algarrobo is the 80 m tall Pena Blanca mountain that towers over the sea and the resort's outskirts. The man-made sights - fisherman district, catholic temple Santa Teresita and the Temple of Virgin Birth - are also interesting to visit.
You can get to Algarrobo by taxi or rented car from Santiago (110 km) via the Ruta 68 highway with GPS.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Chile begins in October and ends in March. Do not forget that the Peruvian current (Humboldt Current) prevents a full beach holiday, as it carries cold streams from Antarctica along the coastline of South America.
