Pichilemu beach

The beaches of Pichilemu in Cardenal Caro province are considered to be some of the best place for surfing and calm vacations on the bosom of nature.

Beach description

This large area is covered in light grainy sand. The descent is smooth and the sea bottom is sandy, but the beaches aren't really suitable for swimming due to cold water and high waves. You can get to the coast from anywhere in the city.

Pichilemu has several beaches. The main city beach, located on the terraces nearby the Ross park, has a well-developed infrastructure. There's an umbrella and sunbed rental store, showers and toilets, as well as a parking lot. An observation deck is set up on the rocks in the south of the beach. It does get crowded during high season. Many different kinds of tourists, be they from other regions of Chile or different parts of the world, come here. Bringing your children to Pichilemu isn't the best idea, as the water is always cold, and almost no water attractions for children operate here.

Picturesque Infiernillo and Hermosa beaches - perfect places for surfers - are located in the city's outskirts. There's no infrastructure there, the beaches are almost always empty, and the weather is very windy.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Chile begins in October and ends in March. Do not forget that the Peruvian current (Humboldt Current) prevents a full beach holiday, as it carries cold streams from Antarctica along the coastline of South America.
