Savannah Bay beach

Virgin Gorda Island is one of the most popular among the British Virgin Islands and is known primarily for its small but crowded beaches, surrounded by huge granite boulders. However, locals and experienced tourists have one saying: the farther north, the fewer stones. and Savannah Bay, located in the northeast of the island, is quite consistent with it: it is neither Bass nor Sprig Bay in its landscape, but has another advantage: there are no people at all. So no one can stop you from enjoying a well-deserved rest.

Beach description

The beach is rather small: it stretches for a bit less than two kilometers. It is covered with fine white sand and descends smoothly to calm water of the Caribbean Sea protected with a coral reefs from dangerous currents. Strong winds or waves occur here extremely rarily. There are no sling chairs on the beach but there are several wooden decks with umbrellas. Don't forget to take water and sun protection cream: for Savannah Bay is not the most famous place; therefore, it is desert, and there are no shops in the vicinity. You can get there by the main road: a turn to the earth-road leading to the beach will be marked with a pointer. You can park your car on a small parking lot for five or six places.

When is the best time to go?

Since the islands have a tropical climate, the air temperature during the year is practically unchanged and rarely drops below 24 degrees. The same temperature level is noted when determining the water temperature. The wettest and most comfortable months to stay – are from September to November, but the hurricane season also falls on the same period. Therefore, the best time to relax – is the beginning of December or May and the end of April.
