Las Cuevas Bay is a long sandy beach located near the rainforest. It is famous for its picturesque caves and majestic mountains covered with greenery. This is a place of clean air, calm weather, quiet and calm atmosphere.

Beach description

The sandy beach of Las Cuevas Bay is located in a large bay in the north of the island of Trinidad. Its length exceeds 2.5 km and its width is 50 metres. A dense tropical forest grows next to it. In addition to trees, majestic mountains and picturesque glades adorn this place. And the most interesting view opens on the seashore. There you can admire the endless ocean, turquoise waters and a huge bay in the shape of a horseshoe.

There is a small eco-friendly hotel on the beach (Las Cuevas Beach Lodge) located in the very heart of the rainforest. On its territory there is a seafood restaurant, free parking, beautiful terraces and well maintained squares. This hotel offers the following services:

30 km south of the beach is the capital of the island - Port of Spain. There are the following benefits of civilization:

Las Cuevas Bay is located on the northern outskirts of Trinidad, 5.5 km from Maracas Bay. You can get here by personal transport, taxi (cost from $60) or by bus.

Useful information

During the rainy season (June to November), many mosquitoes appear in the forests. If you intend to visit the beach during this period, take an insect repellent with you.

Las Cuevas Bay is a safe beach where only minor offenses are recorded. Most of them occur on the western part of the coast. Follow 3 simple rules to avoid problems:

  • avoid uninhabited places in the evening;
  • be polite with locals;
  • watch your things.

The best time to visit this beach: December-April. During this period, there is minimal rainfall and no intense heat.
