Maracas Bay beach

Maracas is a crescent-shaped sandy beach located among tropical forests and mountain peaks. It is famous for the first-class cuisine and a good level of infrastructure. It is also loved for clean air, clear waters, a large amount of free space.

Beach description

Maracas Bay is a sandy beach with lush palm trees, exotic shrubs and beautiful stone slabs. It is surrounded by high (up to 120 metres) hills covered with greenery. Its length exceeds 2 km, and its width reaches 100 meters. Not far from this place there is a fishing village with colorful houses and a good-natured population. The shore is in the shape of a crescent.

The beach is washed by the Caribbean Sea. You can see a hilly bay, majestic mountains and dense forests from its shore. The waters of Maracas are characterized by crystal clearness and high temperature. They are famous for velvet waves, a good amount of fish, a smooth depth. Thanks to the local bay, there are no stormy winds.

The following leisure options are available to beach guests:

  1. exploring the bays and wild beaches of the Caribbean on a rented boat;
  2. diving and snorkelling in the vicinity of the local cliffs;
  3. surfing and sailing;
  4. hiking and conquering mountain peaks.

Fans of a relaxing holiday taste Caribbean dishes, take sun baths, enjoy a swim.

The disadvantages of the beach include the underwater current. It intensifies during the tides and carries away beginner swimmers from the coast. Conclusion: do not let children swim unattended! Stones, wasps and other dangerous objects also occasionally come across on the surface of the coast. To prevent injury to your feet, wear safety slippers or watch your step.

At the weekend, residents of the capital and surrounding towns come to the beach.   On weekdays, only a few dozen people rest here. The popularity of Maracas is growing every year. Over the past 5 years, more than a dozen shops, recreation areas and other infrastructure facilities have appeared here. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the deserted Caribbean coast, do not postpone the visit.

When is the best time to go?

In the mid and late summer (and sometimes fall) Trinidad and Tobago flooded by rains.  Therefore, the best time to travel is the beginning of the year, the months from February to May.
