Store Bay beach

Store Bay Beach is one of the most popular destinations for vacationers in Tobago, not only because of its picturesque scenery but also due to its proximity to the airport and well-developed infrastructure. Situated on the southwestern edge of the island, near the town of Crown Point, it is merely a few minutes' walk from A.N.R. Robinson International Airport. The bay, along with the beach nestled within, was named in honor of Jan Stor, one of the first Dutch settlers.

Beach description

Store Bay boasts a quaint 200-meter coastline, adorned with soft, fine-grained sand that is as light as flour. Its convenient location renders the beach particularly popular, as it allows even those with only a few hours to spare before a flight from the nearby airport to enjoy a moment of relaxation. Moreover, Store Bay is an idyllic spot in Tobago to witness stunning sunsets, making it a favored destination for romantics and loving couples.

For families with children, Store Bay offers excellent conditions, including:

  • calm, crystal-clear waters in shades of emerald and turquoise (the waves, on the rare occasions they do appear, are very small);
  • a significant expanse of shallow water near the shore; however, it is important to note that there is a sharp increase in depth of about 0.6 meters at a certain distance from the coast.

A small reef on the western edge of the beach creates an ideal environment for snorkeling. Boats also depart from here for sea excursions. Even the coastal waters of Store Bay are perfect for observing a kaleidoscope of colorful fish.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to visit Trinidad and Tobago for a beach vacation is during the dry season, which spans from January to May. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions for enjoying the islands' stunning beaches.

  • January to May: Dry Season - This is the ideal time for beachgoers seeking sunny skies and warm temperatures. The risk of rain is minimal, and the humidity is lower, making for comfortable beach days.
  • February: Carnival - If you're looking to combine beach time with cultural festivities, visit during Carnival, which is usually held in February. It's a vibrant, energetic time to experience the islands' culture, though beaches may be more crowded.
  • March to April: Easter Period - This is a popular time for both locals and tourists, with many events and activities centered around the Easter holidays. It's a great time to enjoy both the beaches and the local traditions.
  • Late May: Turtle Watching Season - For nature enthusiasts, the end of May marks the beginning of turtle watching season on certain beaches, adding a unique experience to your beach vacation.

Regardless of when you choose to visit, Trinidad and Tobago's beaches offer crystal-clear waters and beautiful sands year-round, with each season providing its own unique charm.
