Mount Irvine beach
Mount Irvine Beach is not the most picturesque beach on Tobago, but it consists of two bays and attracts outdoor enthusiasts with excellent surfing opportunities. It is located on the western edge of the island, near the the same name coastal village, which is famous for its beautiful resort area. The resort is characterized by a combination of the urban atmosphere with natural beauty. People come here for exciting surfing and scuba diving, as well as to enjoy the atmosphere of privacy.

Mount Irvine coast is covered with soft coarse dark brown sand, in which there are small pebbles, and it is surrounded with palm trees and cozy gazebos for relaxation. At dawn and at sunset, the sandy coast takes impressive shades, making this beach an ideal place for romantic and wedding photo shoots.
Depending on the season, two main groups of vacationers can also be distinguished.
- The turquoise sea waters in summer are calm and clean, which creates excellent conditions for underwater adventures.
- In winter, it is quite windy and big waves appear, which attracts surfers to the beach during this period. From November to April you may try to conquer a wave at Mount Irvine.
The length of the beach is about 800 m, and it is divided into 2 separate sections. The northern part is a public recreation place, while the southern part belongs to Mount Irvine Bay Hotel, but it is also publicly accessible not by hotel guests. In some areas, the coast is partially with stones and rocks extending into the sea. In such places, you can often find crabs hiding under the rocks.
When is the best time to go?
In the mid and late summer (and sometimes fall) Trinidad and Tobago flooded by rains. Therefore, the best time to travel is the beginning of the year, the months from February to May.

Mount Irvine is located in a tourist area, so finding a suitable accommodation option is quite simple. For those who love comfort, about 1.6 km from the coast the luxurious and all-inclusive hotel is Mount Irvine Bay Hotel & Golf Club.

- There is a separate recreation area with fancy picnic arbors on the northern outskirts
- There are volleyball and tennis courts on the coast, and there is an excellent golf course near the hotel on the southern edge of the beach.
- The only disadvantage that should be considered is the lack of public toilets, they can only be found at cafes and restaurants.
- A few steps from the coast you can find gift shops and vendors offering to buy freshly caught fish.
- Near the hotel you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, kayaks for boat trips and surfboards for conquering the waves. There are also changing cabins and showers.
Just a few kilometers from the coastline, you can find a couple of restaurants, cooking Italian cuisine and local specialties. On the coast itself there is an amazing beach bar in its northern part, as well as a restaurant and a bar near the hotel on the southern edge.

- Since Mount Irvine is located near Scarborough, the capital of Tobago, you should take your time to walk around this city. In the vicinity of the beach (about 2.3 km from it), you can visit one of Tobago most famous historical attractions, it is Fort Bennett.
- About 3.5 km from Mount Irvine is an equally interesting place, it is Crown Point Lighthouse. At a greater distance (about 8.5 km from the coast) you can visit the historic King George Fort and George Lighthouse.
