Brisants beach

It's located in the western part of Réunion, next to the village of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, the most popular resort on the island. In the south it borders on the Hermitage beach, to the north of it there is a marina. The picturesque coastline is covered with white, almost Maldivian sand and offers a peaceful, serene rest. But you shouldn't relax here – there's no coral reef near the shore, a reliable natural protection from sharks.

Beach description

Despite the fact that special fences have been installed in the sea, there have been cases of attacks on people by these predators near the beach. That's why, usually, you don't meet families with small children here, and the main visitors are surfers and other lovers of active water sports. Various sports competitions and cultural events are held annually for them, and sports equipment rental centers are organized next to the beach. The beach provides several cafes and diners, showers, toilets and beach cabins. Free parking is available next to the harbour and there's also a famous local yacht club.

When is the best time to go?

Since there are mountains on the island, the climate on it is cooler and drier than on the neighboring islands. Since Reunion is located in the southern hemisphere, the calendar winter coincides with the climatic summer,  so the best time to visit the island is from September to November and from April to May.
