Terre-Sainte beach

It is located on the outskirts of the town of Saint-Pierre in the southern part of Réunion Island. There used to be a small fishing village, which eventually became part of the city. But to this day, these places still have a special atmosphere thanks to the preserved ancient buildings, quaintly decorated with street art masterpieces.

Beach description

The beach itself is relatively small, sandy, but not the most comfortable for swimming because of the rocky bottom. In the south it borders with the earth dam behind which the city harbor begins, on the same side you can see an ancient lighthouse, the symbol of the city. The beach is undeveloped, there are no showers, you can find toilets only in the nearest cafes. Sometimes broken glass and metal bottle caps are found in the sand, so you should look carefully under your feet to avoid getting hurt.

Close to the beach, there is a driveway that leads from the city center to the port. In parallel to it, a pedestrian promenade with a bicycle lane is organized; it has shops, restaurants, tourist offices and rental centers located along. But still, the main highlight of this part of the city are the ancient streets adjacent to the beach, buried in the greenery of fruit trees and pleasing the eye with original works of street art.

When is the best time to go?

Since there are mountains on the island, the climate on it is cooler and drier than on the neighboring islands. Since Reunion is located in the southern hemisphere, the calendar winter coincides with the climatic summer,  so the best time to visit the island is from September to November and from April to May.
