Beaches in Reunion

Plage de Saint-Pierre is a long sandy beach near the center of the resort of the same name, one of the largest in the south of the island of Reunion and to the west of the port with the same name. Rich in underwater flora and fauna, the local waters attract many snorkelers, and the proximity to the center of the commune makes this beach the most accessible for tourists.

Plage de L'Hermitage is one of the most picturesque, well-kept beaches of Réunion popular with holidaymakers and is deservedly considered a paradise corner of this island. This “Eden” is located on the coast of the Indian Ocean on the western edge of the overseas land of France, near L'Ermitage-Les-Bains, from which the beach got its name, translated from the French as “place of seclusion”.

Plage de l'Étang Salé is the longest volcanic beach in Réunion, stretched along the southwestern edge of the island. The contrasting combination of black sand, the incredible turquoise colouring of the ocean and the emerald needles of Australian pines have made it the most picturesque coast, and the high waves attract many surfers. The convenient location between the outskirts of Les Avirons and the center of L'Étang-Salé (hence the name of the beach) also adds to the attractiveness of this holiday destination.

Tremblet Beach is a unique place that can boast its unusual coast consisting of black sand. It's located in the southeast of Réunion, in the area of Saint-Philippe. It's the youngest beach on the planet, and it is loved by many travelers. Tremblet Beach was formed on the surface of the Indian Ocean after the volcanic eruption in 2007, and since then has become famous. Its length is 280 m.

Boucan Canot Beach is located on the east coast of Réunion Island. It's considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, which offers picturesque scenery, water entertainment and a welcoming atmosphere. It's the only place, where you can safely swim in the lagoons. The beach is sandy, the water in the ocean is warm, there are winds and strong waves which travelers like to jump on.

It is located in the southern part of the island in the vicinity of the resort village of Petite-Île and is the main sight of these places. The beach is situated in a cozy picturesque bay surrounded by basalt rocks, and is framed by majestic coconut palms, making it even more appealing and exotic.

The beach is near the harbor with the port, popular place for strolling among holidaymakers.

The small resort village of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains is located in the western part of Réunion and is surrounded by the best beaches of the island. The largest and most popular of them is Plage de L'Eermitage Beach. The seven-kilometre-long coastline is relatively narrow, especially during high tides, and covered with snow-white sand mixed with coral particles. Coral reefs are also found in the sea, especially at low tides, so you should take care of special shoes.

The weather on this beach is not always favorable, so in case of bad conditions, you can spend time in the neighboring beaches – La Salina or L'Hermitage. The beach is divided into two parts by coral reefs. Lifeguards are on duty here, there are amenities for recreation with children, rent of umbrellas and deck chairs. Holidaymakers are recommended to always stay on the left side of the beach.
