Mafia Island beach
Mafia Island is a colorful place for lovers of sports fishing, diving and a relaxing beach holiday. The resort has few hotels and preserved wildlife. Most of the beaches are deserted; infrastructure is not developed everywhere.

Beach description
The most developed and popular Mafia beach is located at the Chole Bay, it is a favorite place for divers from all over the world. Here they plunge to a depth of 30 meters and observe 400 species of fish and more than 50 species of coral in the water column. Visibility depends on the tides and the wind. People go to the island for sport fishing from August to March. Marlins, tuna, barracuda, flying fish are found here.
Hotels, apartments, lodges were built for travelers to stay. Each complex has its own beach. Vacationers move around the island on foot, in a rented jeep or by dhow boats. There are no buses or taxis. Local sights include:
- Kua ruins (the 14th century mosques);
- perennial pools of coral rocks.
Giant bats that eat only fruits are the unusual animals that live on the island.
When is it better to go
The climate of Tanzania is monsoon, the sun is active. The best time to relax – is from July to March. The rainy season falls on April, May and November. February – is a swing of the Tanzanian summer, the air temperature reaches +38 degrees during the day, the water warms up to +30 degrees. In Zanzibar there is a difference of 6 - 10 degrees, with the constant gusts from sea.
