Dune of Pilat beach
Dune of Pilate is a largest sandy dune in Europe. Its width is 500 m, height is 130 m. It is situated 60 km southwest of the city of Bordeaux. Nereby, there is a food court, several snack bars, souvenir shops, car parking (costs 4 euros per 2 hours).
Dune of Pilate reminds the Arabian Desert surrounded by water surface and dense forests. Its top offers a beautiful view of a sandy plateau, tiny islands in Arcachon lagoon, and Aquitaine parks.

Beach description
THe western part of the dune includes the beach with soft sand, lush greenery, and vast territory. This area is popular among married couples thanks to its warm water, smooth depth increasing, soft seabed, and perfect cleanliness.
A large wooden stairway leads to the top of the dune. Tourists set up campgrounds regularly here to enjoy the beauty of this place and admire the stars. The sandy hill is popular among fans of paragliders. Once a year, they organize free-style flying competitions here.
Please note: while going up the dune, your shoes could be clogged with sand. To avoid discomfort, you should take several pairs of socks.
