Lemonakia beach

Lemonakia adorns the northern part of Samos. It is about 12 km from the port of Vati, and only 2 from the popular picturesque village of Kokkari. A cozy small bay protects the coast from the encroachments of wind and waves. It is very quiet, the water has an indescribable blue shade, it is crowded during the season, there are many Greek visitors.

Beach description

Lemonakia is away from Tsamadou, much smaller and quieter. From the main road you need to turn to the side where soon there will be a parking lot (small, but free), from where the beach on foot on a narrow path a couple of hundred meters. You'll see a bright shore covered in pebbles and sand in some places. There are sun loungers, umbrellas, other things you need:

  • toilets and showers;
  • shower stalls;
  • restaurants and bars with plenty of snacks, cool drinks;
  • public transportation to the beach has been set up;
  • you can settle in the village or in the immediate vicinity.

The bay is reliably protected by rocks, the water is well warmed up, and there is almost never any sea unrest. It's a good place for vacationers of all ages, safe with kids. Teenagers, adults are engaged in windsurfing, snorkeling, the bottom near the shore is deep. It's better to have special shoes for walking on pebbles.

The slopes around the bay are covered with lush greenery. Here pine trees descend almost to the edge of the water, olive groves grow, tangerine plantations are spread, and the locals wok on fertile vineyards. Active travelers explore mountain villages, ancient ruins and discuss mythical and modern realities with Samoan wine.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to visit Samos for a beach vacation is typically during the summer months, from June to September. During this period, the weather is most favorable for beach activities, with warm, sunny days and minimal rainfall.

  • June: The beginning of the summer offers pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and the opportunity to enjoy the island's natural beauty in relative peace.
  • July and August: These are the hottest months, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports. However, these are also the busiest times, so expect more tourists and higher prices.
  • September: As the summer winds down, the temperatures remain warm but the island becomes less crowded, making it an ideal time for visitors seeking a more relaxed atmosphere.

Regardless of the month you choose, Samos' stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coastal towns offer a memorable vacation experience. To avoid the peak tourist season while still enjoying good weather, consider the shoulder months of June and September for the best balance of comfort and tranquility.

Infrastructure

The region has recently experienced rapid growth in tourism. The number of vacationers is increasing annually. In the village near Lemonakia beach there are restaurants, cafes, and in the evenings, bars and clubs welcome guests with interesting programs. There are various options for comfortable living.

It is just 250 m from Gregory Studios, 2*, to the sea. The village of Kokkari is less than a kilometer away. Apartments with new buildings are located on a hilltop directly above the beach. It is very quiet here. Guests have breakfast, watching the panorama of the surrounding forest and sea complex below.

Free parking is available on site. There is public transport to the airport. The road will take no more than half an hour. On the way to the center of the village there are restaurants, a mini market. There are also many shops, pharmacies, banks.

The restaurants are served by the most experienced staff. On the beach or in the village there is a wide variety of juices, ice cream, popular cocktails. Greek and international cuisines are served. Any tavern will meet you with a rich menu. In December and September, festivals dedicated to saints can be visited in the capital. In August, the Wine Festival takes place, during which at the fair you can learn a unique recipe for local dishes consisting of meat and wheat. Kokkari beach has a specialized bar where sports fans combine television viewing with sunset watching.

Useful information

  1. The way to the beach does not take much time. You can walk here from the village. To settle in a hotel nearby, tourists get from the airport by taxi or bus. At many hotels, there is a rental of scooters, bicycles, movement between the place of residence and shops, the beach is not difficult.
  2. In summer it is hot, as in other places in Greece, but the heat is tempered by the proximity of the sea, an abundance of shade from dense vegetation.
  3. Going on a hiking trip along the route for a couple of hours or days, you must consider your physical fitness. There are offers for cycling enthusiasts.
