The prestigious EU Blue Flag Award stands as a testament to the purity and safety of its waters. In recent years, the quaint village of Finikas has blossomed into one of Syros Island's premier resorts, boasting a well-developed infrastructure. Despite its growth, Finikas retains the enchanting allure of a peaceful and intimate town, complemented by a splendid beach that invites relaxation and adventure alike.

Beach description

Finikas Beach is located in the charming resort town on the southwest coast of Syros Island, just 11 km from Ermoupolis. This picturesque spot was named in honor of the Phoenicians, the original owners of the ancient pier. Today, Finikas boasts the second largest port on Syros, drawing numerous fishermen's boats and yachts to its shores. The bay is well-protected from the northern summer winds, which are particularly frequent in the Aegean Islands, making it an ideal anchorage and refueling station for pleasure craft.

The small bay of Finikas is encircled by the most stunning natural scenery. Its enchanting golden sand beach is fringed by tall pines, flanked by rocks to the right, and merges seamlessly with a quaint town adorned with pristine snow-white houses. The waters here are clear, calm, and shallow, ensuring safety for all. Despite its proximity to the rocks, the water entry remains sandy and transparent. Finikas is a favorite among families with children, not only for its natural beauty but also because the beach is outfitted with sports facilities, basketball courts, and play areas. Visitors can also rent sun loungers and umbrellas for added comfort.

Reaching Finikas Beach is convenient via a scheduled bus service from Ermoupolis. However, for a truly comfortable experience, consider staying within the settlement itself. Here, you'll find an excellent selection of hotels and restaurants just a stone's throw from the beach.

Best Time to Visit

    • September: As the summer winds down, September provides a balance with warm sea temperatures and fewer tourists. This is an excellent time for those looking for a quieter vacation while still enjoying the full benefits of the island's beach life.

Regardless of the month you choose, Syros offers stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters. To fully enjoy the island's beauty, consider the climate, crowds, and cultural events when planning your trip.
