Beach description

According to historians, Galissas was inhabited in 8 century B.C. and had such small villages as Katacefal, harassonas, Horafida, Halepa, Agia Paku, Agreuto and Kaveiri. Galicius Prineus was a king of the settlement, so he gave a name to the village: Galissas. In terms of comfort, this resort is now considered equal to more developed touristic destinations, such as Rhodes and Crete.

the beach is located in the picturesque village of Galissas situated only 7 km away from Ermoupolis, the capital of the island. Recently, the development of the resort that has been an ordinary village not so long ago, has been carried out very fast, and this became the main reason of this resort popularity.

Galissas Beach is a pearl of not the village only but the entire island of Siros. The beach is located in the picturesque bay among high rocks in the sea and tall tamarisks surrounding the beach zone. The beach is long and spacious, covered with soft golden sand. This part of the island has the shallow-watered nature, so water is warmed fast.

galissas becomes magnificent in sunset rays. In such moments, sky and sea become the one, swimming in warm yellow and orange shades of sun hiding behind the horizon.

When is the best time to go?

Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season  begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.
