Marina di Pietrasanta beach

Quiet and comfortable resort

Marina di Pietrasanta Beach, a jewel of the Tuscan Riviera, epitomizes tranquility. Its serene atmosphere soothes the soul, offering comfort and simplicity without the need for ostentatious embellishments. This idyllic destination attracts those who cherish true relaxation and seek to immerse themselves in the town's rich culture. It is the perfect choice for anyone wishing to savor life's unhurried pace, explore local landmarks, bask in the sea, and relish the peacefulness of the beach, all away from the clamor and commotion.

Beach description

A vast expanse of golden sand stretches along the Marina di Pietrasanta beach for 5 kilometers, boasting a width of approximately 200 meters. This generous space allows visitors to relax in comfort, ensuring that even during the peak season, when the beach is bustling with people, you can still find a secluded spot where tranquility prevails. Families with children are particularly drawn to this destination, enticed by the crystal-clear sea that invites one to plunge in. The gentle, sloping descent into the water is not only convenient but also safe, making it nearly impossible to slip or fall.

The sensation of warm, golden sand beneath your feet, the cool shade provided by the surrounding pine groves, and the abundance of open space combine to create the perfect setting for an unforgettable vacation. For those seeking a touch of luxury, paid beach services are available at the highest standard, with attentive staff ready to cater to your every need. It's important to note that when traveling to Marina di Pietrasanta, the beaches are separated from the city by a highway, which means that you won't find hotels directly along the coastline.

Visitors have the option to choose between a paid or a complimentary beach experience. If opting for the former, budget between 20 to 30 EUR to rent lawn chairs and an umbrella for two. While not everyone may find this expense feasible on a daily basis, there is always the alternative of enjoying the beach for free. However, this option comes with a caveat: you may find yourself setting up close to the water's edge, which can be less than ideal when the sea is rough with strong waves.

For the active beachgoer, opportunities to play soccer, tennis, or badminton on the sand are plentiful. It is worth noting, however, that there is no sports equipment available for rent, so be sure to bring your own gear.

Optimal Time for a Visit

The Italian Ligurian coast, also known as the Italian Riviera, is a picturesque destination that offers a perfect blend of beautiful beaches, charming towns, and delicious cuisine. To make the most of a beach vacation here, timing is key.

  • Summer (June to August): This is the peak season when the weather is warmest and the water temperatures are ideal for swimming. However, it's also the busiest time, so expect crowded beaches and higher prices.
  • Late Spring (May) and Early Fall (September to October): These periods are considered the best times to visit for those who prefer a balance between pleasant weather and fewer crowds. The sea is still warm enough for swimming, especially in early fall.
  • Late Fall and Winter (November to February): These months are less suitable for a beach vacation due to cooler temperatures and unpredictable weather, although the region is still beautiful and less crowded.

Ultimately, the best time for a beach vacation on the Ligurian coast is late spring or early fall, when the weather is comfortable, the water inviting, and the crowds have thinned out, providing a more relaxed experience.

Infrastructure

The city can be divided into two distinct areas. The first is Pietrasanta, renowned for its railway station and architectural marvels. The second, Marina di Pietrasanta, boasts pristine beaches, luxurious hotels, and a plethora of coastal activities. The hotels are predominantly situated in this latter area. However, the region is not known for its multi-star establishments. Instead, it offers predominantly affordable, family-friendly accommodations, typically rated around three stars, providing standard comfort.

While there are four-star accommodations available, they tend to be located further from the sea, which may be inconvenient for some. Nevertheless, these hotels are well-equipped with all the amenities necessary for a delightful vacation, including swimming pools, playgrounds for children, and serene walking parks. On the rare occasion of inclement weather, guests will find no shortage of engaging activities to enjoy.

The local infrastructure is highly developed, catering to a wide range of interests:

  • A superb equestrian arena awaits horseback riding enthusiasts.
  • Golf aficionados can challenge themselves on a sprawling 18-hole course.
  • Romantics might indulge in an enchanting yacht excursion.
  • In the evenings, the pleasure of a stroll along illuminated pathways, a leisurely walk in the park, or the inhalation of fragrant garden aromas is unmatched.
  • A multitude of restaurants offer sumptuous meals, perfect before heading to the beach where live music at the bars sets the tone for an unforgettable night.
