Beach description

Bystranda is an area for comfortable recreation and safe swimming with small (271m long) but clean sandy shore, high quality water and shallow clean bottom. The beach is perfect for children. Besides, there is a ramp for disabled to swim. Bystranda's guests have:

  • volleyball court and children's playground,
  • sunbathing terrace,
  • skate ramp,
  • toilets.

Promenade paths have comfortable stairs. On hot summers day many people collect under the shades of beautiful palms.

Not far from the beach there is covered aquapark "Aquarama", built in 2013. It's a swimming complex with water slides, pools, bar and jacuzzi tub. Those who love active pastime can enjoy fitness club and climbing wall. The Bystranda Beach is used as concert venue. Annual musical fest Palmesus takes place here in the beginning of July.

When is it better to go

The most suitable time for a beach recreation in Norway is the beginning of summer. In the country of fjords from June to July the sun shines almost around the clock. In the southern resorts, the air temperature warms up to + 17-23 °C. May and September will be a great alternative to the summer months, when the weather is still warm, but there are fewer tourists. Arriving in Norway in the winter, you can significantly save on tickets and hotel accommodation, and at the same time see the northern lights.
