Hellestø beach

Hellestø Beach is located in southwestern region of Norway, in Rogaland.

Beach description

Facilities include car park and toilets. In walking distance are campings, motels and restaurants. Strong underwater streams with good waves attract surfing, kayaking and kiting fans. In the western part near the rock are several dangerous places, where water lovers should be especially careful.

On good summer days people can swim here, enjoy the sun on the white sand shore. During tides, in the water, many sea inhabitants can be seen: flocks of fish, crabs and shellfish. Very often here come dog owners with their pets and lovers of hiking by the sea. In winter and autumn to Hellestø come those who want to see the Polar Aurora and experience the power of the Nordic winds.

Hellestø is famous for annual kite fests, attracting thousands of adults and children. Among the visitors are many of those who want to conquer 92 m Hellestøfjell rock, serving as a guide for local boaters. From the beach the 25-meter tower of the Feistein lighthouse can be seen, located on an island in the open sea. It's easier to take a car to get to the beach from the International Airport Stavanger.

When is it better to go

The most suitable time for a beach recreation in Norway is the beginning of summer. In the country of fjords from June to July the sun shines almost around the clock. In the southern resorts, the air temperature warms up to + 17-23 °C. May and September will be a great alternative to the summer months, when the weather is still warm, but there are fewer tourists. Arriving in Norway in the winter, you can significantly save on tickets and hotel accommodation, and at the same time see the northern lights.
