Solastranden beach

Solastranden amazes not only with the beauty of dunas, but also with its size: it's 2500 m long. There are several lighthouses, toilets and Sola Strand Hotel's stall. In the southern part of the beach are public changing booths. The guests' attention will surely be attracted by the remains of the fortifications of the World War II.

The waters of Solastranden are often dominated by strong winds and streams, so those who love surfing, windsurfing and sailing some here. Also it's popular among sea picnic lovers. For sunbathing and swimming this beach is good in summers.

In South of the beach there is Sola Golf Club. The nearest natural attraction is the 604-metre-high Preikestolen fjord, one of the world's best viewing platforms. People can get to Solastranden by car or bus. The beach is located in 2 km from airport and about 15 km from Stavanger and Sandnes. The nearest bus stop is in 1.5 km from the beach. It will take 15-20 min on foot.

When is it better to go

The most suitable time for a beach recreation in Norway is the beginning of summer. In the country of fjords from June to July the sun shines almost around the clock. In the southern resorts, the air temperature warms up to + 17-23 °C. May and September will be a great alternative to the summer months, when the weather is still warm, but there are fewer tourists. Arriving in Norway in the winter, you can significantly save on tickets and hotel accommodation, and at the same time see the northern lights.
