Carcavelos beach
Carcavelos- one of the largest beaches of the Lisbon Riviera. It is located on the same name spa town shore, 12 km from Lisbon. You can get to Carcavelos by train or rented car. Several parking zones are arranged along the beach line.

Beach description
The shore of 1.3 km is covered with clean fine sand. The descent is smooth and the bottom is sandy. The waves are high. There is windy often, that is especially pleasant in hot weather. The beach has been repeatedly awarded the Blue Flag. The beach has everything you need to relax:
- sunbeds and umbrellas rent,
- showers,
- playgrounds and sportsgrounds,
- wheelchairs ramps,
- medical center,
- rescue services,
- surf school,
- restaurants, bars, cafes.
Carcavelos is a very popular beach, often crowded in season. Here the locals have rest, capital residents and tourists come too. There are plenty of young people, as Carcavelos is recognized as the best surfing beach on the coast. There is a lot of vacationers with children. Experienced travelers recommend to come to the beach in the morning as early as possible, as by noon it becomes too crowded.
The beach is more suitable for active entertainment than for relaxing and swimming. Children are better not being left unattended in the water, even at shallow depths. There are stone protrusions at the bottom, which are dangerous, when the ocean is strong.
When is it better to go
The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
