Comporta beach

Komporta Beach, located on the Troy Peninsula and dotted with palm umbrellas and sunbeds, welcomes visitors with the sparkling foamy waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Hotel complexes, created from restored fishing cottages, welcome guests around the clock.

Beach description

Komporta beach is part of the Liman-Sado nature reserve, which allowed to preserve its natural beauty. It is famous for its 12-kilometer-long stretch of white sand and crystal clear water. Comporta is the first Blue Flag beach in the municipality of Grandola.

Here tourists will find a large parking lot, public toilets with showers and wheelchair ramps. You will have the opportunity to go surfing, bodyboarding, kiting and fishing. If water activities aren’t your thing, you can hike through rice fields or watch birds in a pine forest.

The secrets of Komporta beach are revealed by few tourists so far - ferries arriving here are at most only one-third full. But the situation will change soon. After building up an area of 12.5 hectares with five hotels and two golf courses, Comporta will become one of the international tourist centers.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
