Moitas beach

Moitas is a small beach between the Cascais and Estoril resorts. You can get to Moitas from Lisbon by train- first to Monte Estoril station, then along the promenade on foot. There are no parking near the beach.

Beach description

Short sandy line runs into the stone pier stretching out into the sea. The sand is fine and clean, the water is transparent, quite calm, the bottom is sand-stony. It is often windy. There are sunbeds and umbrellas rent, equipped showers, wheelchairs ramps are provided. There is a lot of restaurants, cafes, bars nearby. Moitas beach is regularly awarded with the Blue Flag for its safety and high ecological level.

Moitas is quite crowded, but there are not many who is swimming due to uncomfortable water descent. There are locals and tourists of different ages among vacationers. There are many families with children and young people. It is comfortable to sunbathing, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing. There is a small stone pool filled during the tidal hours a few steps from the beach.

Not far from Moitas there is a mansion of the XIX century made in neo-Gothic style, where the museum displays. On the mountain nearby stands Palmela fortress of the Roman period, from the observation points of which you can see Lisbon and the Lisbon Riviera.

When is it better to go

The beach season in Portugal lasts from the beginning of June until September, when the air temperature reaches +30°C and the water temperature - +19°C. It should be remembered that the Atlantic Ocean does not warm up well and cools quickly, lovers of a more comfortable temperature can swim in natural stone pools, which are quite numerous on the coast.
