Awaroa beach

Awaroa is a wild beach that has become a symbol of New Zealand's civil society. Local rich man tried to buy the beach in 2013. But the businessman's plans were prevented by the inhabitants of the country - they organized a crowdfunding company and raised more than 2 million dollars in just 3 days. Inhabitants of the country managed to enlist state support and acquire the coastal territory. This place has a new owner - they became the people of New Zealand as a result.

Beach description

Awaroa beach features:

  • more than 800 m in length and up to 100 m in width;
  • surrounded by dense forests and mountain peaks;
  • beach is famous for bright blue and crystal clear waters;
  • covered with soft golden sand;
  • rich in fish, crabs and other fauna.

There are natural pools and small streams during the high tide on the beach. There is a smooth set of depth, good waves and refreshing wind. There is a cozy house for tourists on the territory of Awaroa. There is a camping center with shops, access to electricity and recreation areas near the house for tourists.
Awaroa is perfect beach for a relaxing holiday. People come here to retire with nature, relax in a narrow circle of friends, enjoy the silence and clean air. There are also good conditions for surfing and snorkeling.

Awaroa is located 32 km to the east of the city Takaka. This place can be reached by tourist bus, taxi or private transport.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to travel to New Zealand is December-January, the local summer. Despite the warming, the temperature rarely exceeds 30 degrees, so relaxing on the beach here is very comfortable.
