Capurganá and Sapzurro beach

Capurganá and Sapzurro beaches are two villages in northwestern Colombia located in the farthest corners of Choco region on the Panama border. Both villages offer great beaches, scenic diving spots and delicious seafood as well as charming huts typical of this part of Colombia.

Beach description

Capurganá and Sapzurro beaches are treasures lost during the days of the Colombian Civil War and the drug trade, but today the territory is safe for both locals and tourists. Caribbean water is emerald with perfect transparency. The beaches are covered with sand, and the entry to the sea is smooth and gentle. In this part of Colombia, the mountains offer magnificent views of the beaches and the sea, which make you feel like a desert island.

Capurganá and Sapzurro beaches are beaches surrounded by greenery of impenetrable jungle and mountains. Capurganá is a popular beach among locals but not crowded. Sapzurro is a quiet paradise, even the locals do not know about this beach, so basically its territory is deserted. The infrastructure of these beaches is suitable for not experienced in comfort tourists. The beaches are 15 minutes by boat or 45 minutes on foot.

When is it better to go?

The best time to visit Colombia is from December to April, when the weather is relatively warm and the rains are replaced by the dry season.  It should be borne in mind that the coast is always hotter than in the highlands, for example, in the capital Bogota.
